Key Responsibilities

• Security Engineering & Operations
• Lead design, deployment, and continuous optimization of cybersecurity controls across enterprise IT, cloud, and OT environments.
• Own high-priority vulnerability workflows from discovery and exploit validation through remediation verification and closure evidence.
• Drive modernization of security operations by improving triage quality, reducing remediation cycle time, and increasing consistency of closure standards.
• Establish technical direction for security tooling and telemetry (SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, IAM, endpoint security) with measurable risk-reduction outcomes.
• Secure Systems & Product Support
• Partner with infrastructure, application, and product teams to embed secure-by-design architecture and implementation standards.
• Provide senior-level guidance on mitigation strategies for critical product vulnerabilities, including compensating controls where immediate fixes are not feasible.
• Support and review secure development practices, threat modeling, and security design decisions across major initiatives.
• Build developer-aligned remediation packages (technical rationale, validation criteria, evidence expectations) that improve fix adoption and quality.
• Governance, Risk & Compliance
• Ensure controls align with Abbott policy, regulatory obligations, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, FDA cybersecurity guidance, HIPAA).
• Translate security findings into risk-informed prioritization and defensible treatment plans for leadership and compliance stakeholders.
• Strengthen audit readiness by standardizing security evidence and control documentation across teams.
• Collaboration, Leadership & Continuous Improvement
• Act as a senior technical leader across Cybersecurity and Compliance, influencing priorities and execution without direct authority.
• Mentor engineers and raise team capability in vulnerability analysis, remediation quality, and evidence rigor.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen end-to-end ownership and reduce handoff-related rework.
• Added Scope Aligned to Current Team Contributions
• Advance Vulnerability Operations automation and AI-assisted workflow improvements to reduce manual triage and improve consistency of findings-to-closure execution (aligned with Ben Williams’ current focus areas).
• Lead cloud control lifecycle maturity efforts including Cloudflare rule governance, change traceability, and control effectiveness monitoring (aligned with Logen Autry’s current delivery patterns).
• Expand access governance automation (e.g., recurring access/user listing analysis and entitlement hygiene workflows) to improve identity risk visibility and decision speed.
• Operationalize repeatable, scalable practices that convert tactical remediation work into long-term control maturity improvements.
