Our Abbott Park, Illinois location currently has an opportunity for a Sr. Procurement Specialist.
Title: Sr. Procurement Specialist
Location: Abbott Park, Illinois
Duration: 3+ Months (possibility of extension)
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for executing purchasing and supply management strategies created by the Category Managers.
- This role involves working closely with customers, divisions, and Category Managers to drive the "One Abbott Procurement" model.

- Experience managing and engaging with senior stakeholders to cultivate win-win relationships
- Strong influence, project management, change management, budget review, financial analysis, and negotiating skills
- Excellent people skills and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in spreadsheet programs
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong contracting skills, including reviewing and redlining contracts
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in procurement and/or deep category experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in IT Procurement, preferably in Telecom and IT Networking
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience managing and negotiating with Tier-1 Telecom and Global Network Suppliers
- Experience using SAP Ariba software
- Good organizational skills, including program/project management governance
- Global experience and knowledge of global markets
- Relevant business process knowledge related to procurement and category management
- Extensive knowledge of category technologies and products
- Experience leading teams, both direct staff and indirect project teams
- Finance experience, including financial benchmarking, spend management, savings tracking, or cost breakdowns
- Analytical experience
