Position Overview
The Quality Engineer I provides Process and Quality Engineering support to manufacturing operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality products to customers. This role also supports product development teams to help ensure new products meet established quality standards. The position operates within a regulated quality system environment and requires adherence to corporate and divisional policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support manufacturing in identifying and addressing process defects, including scrap, nonconforming materials, and customer complaints.
- Assist in root cause investigations and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Review and interpret product specifications, quality plans, and system documentation.
- Support risk management activities, including participation in FMEAs and risk analyses.
- Monitor manufacturing processes to understand critical process steps and methods for reducing variation.
- Analyze quality metrics and assist with product and process improvement initiatives.
- Utilize quality tools and training materials to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Work closely with process owners to document product holds, release criteria, and quality decisions.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Work is performed under close supervision with detailed guidance.
- Collaborates primarily at the peer level while developing internal cross-functional relationships.
- Completes assigned tasks according to established schedules with supervisor guidance.
- Exercises limited decision-making authority within defined procedures.
- Operates within a regulated quality system environment where adherence to procedures is critical to regulatory compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 0–2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Basic understanding of quality engineering concepts, manufacturing processes, and quality systems.
- Familiarity with quality tools and problem-solving methodologies preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
