Title: Project Support - Engineering

Location: San Diego, CA

Duration: 3 Months

100% Onsite

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct research under supervision on moderately complex problems. Expected to adequately differentiate/explain their research/experiments involving nucleic acid extraction and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Regularly performs technical experiments, studies and assesses outcomes, technically proficient in field of study
  • Under supervision, exercises technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to PCR assay development projects. Conduct investigations for more complex projects; obtains guidance for more advanced projects.
  • Performs scientific work and a variety of laboratory procedures requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, methods and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related scientific tasks
  • Provide analysis of diverse problems related to qPCR, RT-PCR, dPCR, multiplexing PCR.
  • Learn how to conduct data analysis with JMP, excel or other tool software, prepares technical reports and experimental documentation and prepares summaries and presentations for peers and stakeholders
  • Learn analytical chemistry techniques for characterizing chemicals/molecules (MS, ICP, HPLC, etc.)
  • Assists with project planning, under supervision
  • Participates in routine maintenance and lab safety.

Education

  • Education Level Major/Field of Study or Equivalent
  • College Student Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology or related field
  • Experience/Background
  • 0-3 years Pursuing degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology or similar discipline
  • Practical Lab Skills Competent ability in mathematics and computer literacy; good organizational skills; solid problem solving skills and improves with greater experience Good knowledge of science and the ability to apply basic principles and techniques
  • Accountability/ Scope: Tasks and duties assigned
  • Preferred Qualifications Industry/diagnostic experience Experience developing PCR assays for in vitro diagnostic use Proficiency in analyzing qPCR data using Excel and JMP Familiarity with liquid handling automation systems
