Title: Staff Specialist EHS

Location: Scarborough, Maine (100% On-Site)

Duration: 6 Month

Shift: 8AM - 5PM (Mon - Fri)

Job Summary:

EHS professional who applies established EHS principles, practices, regulations and internal standards, interacts with customers and is solutions-minded in completing EHS assignments. Responsible for compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures, project management, air and water permit application preparation, periodic regulatory reporting, independently plans and conducts assigned projects, manages multiple projects and meets deadlines, facilitates the definition of a project scope with stakeholders, develops schedules and seeks concurrence from stakeholders, responsible for achieving project targets and deliverables, applies technical knowledge/skills to EHS programs and systems, anticipates future business/EHS needs and develops new skills as appropriate.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead environmental compliance activities, programs and prevention efforts.
  • Perform environmental analyses, training, workplace incident investigations, inspections and internal audits.
  • Manage hazardous waste activities including collection, transportation and disposal in compliance with regulations.
  • Review hazardous materials, MSDS’s, usage and storage; ensure proper usage and disposal.
  • Develop and lead compliance training.
  • Maintain SDS database and site chemical inventories.
  • Conduct reviews for facility modification, new product development and new equipment/machinery.
  • On call for EHS emergencies (24/7).
  • Support ISO 14001 process and its maintenance.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks while under supervision; work reviewed upon completion.
  • Apply environmental management principles to develop solutions to environmental issues.
  • Maintain Emergency Response and Fire Plans.
  • Inspect and procure emergency response and disaster preparedness materials and coordinate training.
  • Gather data for EHS report metrics.
  • Support Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with FDA regulations, company policies, procedures and task assignments.
  • Maintain positive communication with employees, customers, contractors and vendors.

Qualifications:

Experience Required: 1–3 Years

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, health sciences, or equivalent OR Equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience:

  • 0–2 years of Environmental work experience
  • Experience in cross division business unit model preferred
