Title: Buyer I

Location: Irving, TX

Duration: 12 Months on W2

Position Summary:

The Buyer I is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. This position evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers while ensuring adherence to company policies and quality standards. The Buyer I works under immediate supervision, following established procedures and guidelines to perform daily functions efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Purchase materials, supplies, and equipment in accordance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and compare vendor quotations to identify the most cost-effective and reliable suppliers.
  • Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Maintain purchasing records, reports, and price lists for reference and audit purposes.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels to ensure materials availability and avoid shortages.
  • Communicate with vendors to confirm order status, resolve discrepancies, and expedite deliveries when needed.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to clarify specifications and ensure material needs are met.
  • Participate in cost reduction, process improvement, and supplier performance initiatives.
  • Follow established purchasing guidelines and company procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Perform additional related duties as required by management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of commonly used purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with ERP or purchasing software preferred.
