Position Summary

The Clinical Software Engineer is responsible for the development and optimization of data systems and reporting products that support data-driven problem solving in the conduct of clinical trials. This individual will work under Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Good Clinical Data Management Practices (GCDMP), FDA regulations, and other applicable guidelines. The role requires strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

You will be part of the Clinical Reporting Team, supporting data reporting products using Power BI, SSRS, ASP.NET, and related technologies.

What You'll Work On

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed design, interface, and requirement specifications.
  • Participate in the implementation, development, enhancement, and modification of software source code, scripts, procedures, and reporting solutions.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues while providing recommendations for future improvements.
  • Gather, analyze, validate, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test requirements, test designs, test cases, procedures, and scripts.
  • Identify critical test parameters and components and document test results.
  • Support hazard/risk analysis activities and root cause investigations.
  • Participate in design reviews and document and resolve issues as directed.
  • Review specifications, code, and test procedures for feasibility, completeness, clarity, correctness, and accuracy.
  • Contribute to testing activities across multiple project phases.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and provide constructive feedback on related projects.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, company policies, operating procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintain positive and effective collaboration with employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • Good knowledge and application of business concepts, procedures, and practices.
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries for relational databases.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience developing and supporting web applications and APIs using ASP.NET.
  • Ability to understand and manage reporting products integrated with ASP.NET.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and reporting product management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Statistics, or Life Sciences.
  • Experience with visual modeling, graphical user interfaces, multi-threading, networking, relational databases, software development methodologies, and source code management.
  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and automated testing.
  • Experience working with Oracle databases, ASP.NET, Microsoft Power BI, and Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and timelines.
  • Experience working in a quality system environment and within regulated industries.
