Title: Production Chemist I

Location: Carlsbad, CA

Duration: 6 Months

100% Onsite

Shift Time: 8:30am to 5:00pm

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily cleaning and maintenance of production equipment
  • Responsible for cleaning and charging of chromatography resins
  • Order, Transfer, and stock laboratory supplies and materials as directed
  • Complete maintenance and calibration logs sheets as needed.
  • Carry out production tasks in support of manufacturing goals and objectives.
  • Production of small scale biological reagents as directed, following established guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation and manufacturing batch records in an accurate, timely and thorough manner.
  • Performs chromatography purification techniques (small scale).
  • Performs fermentation processes for bioreactor cell growth (small scale).
  • Perform required data entry on company planning and materials management system.
  • Carry out functions which may require multiple task coordination.
  • Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships
  • Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies
  • Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business

 Education:

  • BA or BS degree in Chemistry or Biological Sciences; or equivalent work experience
  • Zero to two years of experience

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintain accurate records and notes, and carry out assignments in a thorough, conscientious fashion while adhering to safe laboratory practices. 
  • Experience with problem-solving and troubleshooting in a laboratory environment
  • Training in the operation of lab equipment and use of lab chemicals and tools.
