Below is a sample job description for the contract job opportunity at Abbott:

OVERVIEW

  • Receive inbound or place outbound calls to provide information to customers. 
  • Utilize a database to retrieve customer or company information.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product problems.
  • Provide critical account support where required.
  • Handle high-volume of critical, high-risk accounts in addition to other routine requests.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Handle customer phone calls related to products; analyze problems and direct customers in troubleshooting activities; test success of troubleshooting and diagnose the probable cause. 
  • Update data in Abbot’s system related to customer owned capital equipment. 
  • Review data spreadsheets and translate the data into predefined categories, then update the master file. 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must demonstrate patience, tact, empathy, and problem-solving skills with consistently good voice quality. 
  • Can organize and handle calls with speed and accuracy. 
  • Can work with complex computer applications and resource materials. 
  • Can use multiple operating environments (Windows, DOS, Mainframe). 
  • Must have proven skills in the following PC software products: Lotus Notes, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

More technically focused CS roles:

  • Certificate or Associates in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, Engineering, IT (Information Technology), or related fields is preferred. 
  • 2 years of lab, nursing, med tech, or related medical technical experience.
  • 2 years of hardware, software, and networking technical support is required.
