Main Purpose of Role
Provide technical and analytical support for customs and trade compliance activities at the site/division level. Ensure adherence to all applicable customs regulations, trade laws, and regulatory requirements, including 19 CFR, 15 CFR, FDA, USDA, and other U.S. government agency regulations.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct internal audits of import and export transactions, ensuring timely and accurate review of all records.
- Apply working knowledge of import/export regulations to support business operations.
- Ensure accurate classification, valuation, and country of origin determination for imported goods, including non-commercial items.
- Escalate issues requiring correction to Corporate Customs & Trade Compliance (C&TC).
- Implement corrective actions as directed by Supervisor/Manager based on Corporate C&TC compliance assessments.
- Maintain accountability for compliant import and export of goods and services, including classification and valuation accuracy.
- Analyze opportunities and recommend options to support divisional financial objectives.
- Prepare reports and present recommendations to management as needed.
- Consolidate and analyze import/export data to identify risks and cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide analytical support for CBP Requests for Information, Post-Entry Amendments, and Prior Disclosures.
- Ensure timely and accurate responses to Broker Requests for Information and follow through to resolution.
- Support general import/export-related projects as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (logistics, purchasing, materials management, etc.) on customs-related matters and coordinate training where necessary.
- Operate under general supervision from Supervisor/Manager.
- Stay updated on evolving customs, FDA, and other regulatory requirements impacting U.S. trade.
- Maintain an appropriate balance between compliance and cost optimization.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Logistics/Transportation, or a related field preferred.
Experience / Background
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in import/export operations, international business, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently under time constraints.
- Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist preferred.
