Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for driving quality improvements and corrective actions related to components sourced from external suppliers. This role provides technical support in supplier selection, develops material acceptance criteria, and monitors supplier performance to address corrective actions, manufacturing yield issues, and field failures. The position operates within a regulated quality system environment and ensures compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess potential new suppliers for technical, quality, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Provide technical support for the introduction of components from new suppliers.
  • Develop, generate, and maintain incoming inspection procedures and train inspectors accordingly.
  • Develop or source appropriate inspection tools and equipment.
  • Assist in the development of component specifications.
  • Generate test protocols, monitor testing activities, issue qualification test reports, and approve components for use in products.
  • Provide input to Design Engineering on new component technologies and assist with component selection through quality and reliability analysis.
  • Analyze incoming material defects, determine disposition, and drive corrective actions as required.
  • Communicate quality issues and corrective actions to suppliers.
  • Review new design specifications and provide feedback from a component quality and manufacturability perspective.
  • Investigate field failures related to supplier materials and develop corrective action plans when necessary.
  • May lead project teams of moderate scope and provide guidance to less experienced staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific field
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions)
  • Ability to work effectively in a regulated quality system environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Experience supporting supplier change notifications and corrective actions
  • Strong supplier communication and project support experience

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5–8 years of related experience, or
  • Master’s degree with 0–2 years of related experience
