Title: Buyer II

Location: Plano, TX

Duration: 12 Months

Responsibilities :

• Procuring both direct (production supporting) and indirect (tooling) materials for Abbott NM
• Managing purchase orders and purchase reqs to ensure supply is in house on time and at the correct stocking targets
• Escalating parts with supply concerns or risks and putting together a summary of runout timeline (using templates already created)
• Meeting with internal and external customers to align on delivery timelines when there are concerns
• Meeting weekly with accounts payable to assist in invoicing concerns
• Buyer will own ~200-300 part numbers with that number changing based on business developments and needs

Top 5 skills/requirements

• SAP – demonstrated usage of MD04 and ME21N
• Ability to use excel to analyze materials
• Ability to work cross functionally
• Minimum 1 year direct procurement experience to justify buyer 2 versus buyer 1
• Exposure to inventory controls (setting stock targets and meeting targets versus just placing PO’s and accepting parts).
• Previous hire already had SAP knowledge and was able to go through learning quickly and quickly contribute to the team
• Previous hire also had experience converting MRP requirements into PO’s and knew how to understand the system to make the decisions
• Ability to understand gaps and escalation accordingly was a growth problem with previous hire. If we are short you need to push and escalate, medical device industry requires urgency to meet customer needs as they can be short notice
• Previous hire was timid about being on the phone with customers and pushing for their needs resulting in delivery misses and delays. It took time to build this confidence and delayed the perm decision
