Position Overview

Abbott is seeking a Product Safety Specialist to support Product Safety and Product Stewardship initiatives within its Diagnostics division. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with product safety regulations, coordinating product composition data, and supporting the generation and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background, experience with product safety programs, and the ability to manage complex cross-functional projects in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and support Safety Data Sheet (SDS) inventory for finished products and intermediates.
• Coordinate the collection and management of product composition data from internal teams and external suppliers.
• Develop and standardize product composition templates and processes.
• Ensure compliance with product safety regulations, internal standards, and stewardship requirements.
• Conduct product assessments to evaluate regulatory and supply chain impacts.
• Support the development and execution of Product Safety and Product Stewardship strategies.
• Collaborate with Technical Product Support, R&D, Operations, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and external vendors.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established timelines and business objectives.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product safety and compliance programs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in: Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or Related Scientific Discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in the Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Medical Device, or Pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong experience with Product Safety and Product Stewardship programs.
• Expertise in Safety Data Sheet (SDS) generation and management.
• Experience interpreting and applying product safety regulations and internal standards.
• Proven technical project management experience.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
