The Role: Head of Delivery

The Head of Delivery is responsible for leading the end-to-end design and delivery of AARNet’s network infrastructure projects and ongoing service programs.

This senior leadership role oversees service delivery, network delivery, and GIS functions, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery across AARNet’s fibre network.

A key focus of the role is delivering large-scale network programs while continuously improving delivery processes, systems, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of network infrastructure projects to a ready for service state, including design, construction, and delivery coordination.
  • Oversee Service Delivery, Network Delivery, and GIS functions to ensure alignment, efficiency, and high-quality delivery outcomes.
  • Manage the delivery of large-scale network projects, including performance management through KPIs, reporting, and governance frameworks.
  • Lead build-phase service delivery activities, ensuring services are fully provisioned, tested, and handed over ready for operational activation.
  • Collaborate closely with Civil Construction and Project Management teams to coordinate build activities and manage delivery dependencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement of delivery processes, systems, and performance metrics.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers and specialists, fostering a high-performance and accountable culture.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in telecommunications, infrastructure delivery, or network deployment environments.
  • Proven experience leading network or infrastructure delivery programs, including optical equipment and services as well as supporting infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of network delivery lifecycle stages, including design, construction, testing, and service readiness handover.
  • Strong understanding of civil infrastructure including pit and pipe networks, data centre environments, and supporting utilities such as power and cooling.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams through layers of management.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvement and delivery performance uplift in complex environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, construction, and operations teams.
  • Australian Citizen.
